The oldest McDonald's still in business stands at Lakewood Boulevard and Florence Avenue in Downey. It opened in 1953 with two golden arches rising through the roof and a neon sign of Speedee, the first mascot of the chain. Customers still order at walk-up windows, and a small museum next door explains how the stand was saved from demolition in the 1990s.
